I have never had this problem before and I've used Tag Editor successfully with Excel files:

I'm using Trados 6.5 Freelance

I have a large Excel file, when I try to access it with Tag Editor to create my TXX file I get the error message:

Filter Definition not found: Word2007_1_0_0_.xml

What can I do to fix this?

I suspect that this may have happened since I installed a trial version of Trados Studio, but I want to do this job with my old Trados.
I haven't yet mastered Studio, or bought the final version ....

Please upgrade your Trados version Oct 10, 2010

That is really simple: Trados 6.5 (released somewhere 2005 or so) does NOT support Word 2007.
You need the lates version of Trados (8.3.0.863), so called SDL Trados 2007 Suite, which is now sold together with SDL Trados 2009 Studio.

it worked before Oct 10, 2010

I realise that .....

But it worked perfectly before.
So, by installing the trial version have I virtually cut off all possibility of using the old one in the meantime?

...give Studio a try. When you get used to it you'll wonder how you ever translated anything with Tag Editoricon_smile.gif

It might have changed many of your settings Oct 10, 2010

Which version of Excel are you trying to open? Your software is requesting a Word filter?
Why this? Are you ceratain it is exactly the same Ecel version as before?

It's Excel 2003, definitely the same one I've always been using.

To Emma ....

as regards being brave .... I hardly had time to learn to use the trial version (bad organisation, went on holiday in the middle of the trial term), and now the trial period has run out.
So it means I have to buy the new one, the sooner the better ....
