Dear all,

The client has sent me a XML file and need it back as bilingual, can we get a bilingual file from the XML file? I work in SDL Trados Studio 2009 and want to get bilingual XML file.

I didn't use SDL Trados 2007 TagEditor as the ini file is not available for this XML file.

Thanks,
Mohamed

Every file opened in Studio becomes bilingual Oct 22, 2010

The basic workflow of Studio is to convert a source document - regardless of the source format (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, FrameMaker, XML, HTML, etc.) - to a bilingual file in the SDLXLIFF format. Whatever you do in the Editor of Studio is always done in the bilingual SDLXLIFF file. Only when you have finished your translation and use the command "Save as target", the bilingual SDLXLIFF document gets converted back to the original format.

If your client wants the bilingual file because he maybe wants to review it and use it to update his TM, simply send him the SDLXLIFF file, which you can very easily save using the command "Save as" in Studio.

In this sense there is no "bilingual XML file" as all bilingual files are the same, irrespective of the source format they have been generated from.

Walter
