Tageditor keeps closing down

Dear all

I installed Trados 2007 (Translator's Workbench/SDLX, Version 8.0 Freelance ) on my new pc with Multiterm 7 and with Office 2007 and Windows 7 (32 bit) a few weeks ago... no problems.
Now Tageditor closes down for no clear reason (no fault code, just the message that it is closing) and all work is lost.
This happens when translating INX files, but also sometimes translating standard XML files.
What could be the cause and how can I solve this?
