I recently purchased Trados Studio 2009, and the licence for the Trados 2007 Suite was included in the purchase. I am a little bit confused with regard to the installation of the 2007 version. I was using the demo version of Trados 2009 before I purchased the licence, and did not own the licence for Trados 2007 before. After the purchase, I activated the 2009 version, but would now like to use some of the features included in the 2007 version. How am I supposed to install the 2007 version? It is... See more

After the purchase, I activated the 2009 version, but would now like to use some of the features included in the 2007 version. How am I supposed to install the 2007 version? It is not listed in "My Downloads" section on the SDL site. The activation key, however, is listed in My Licences. Do you know where I can get the file to download the 2007 version? Additionally, I think I will have to de-install the 2009 version before installing the 2007 version, and after installing the 2007 version, I can re-install the 2009 version, am I correct?
Sorry if my question is dumb... Any help is highly appreciated!

First install Trados 2007 Nov 8, 2010

Hi Marimm,

you are correct. You should install first Trados 2007 and then Studio 2009. It is also written in installation guide.

Have a nice installation ^_^

SDL Trados 2007 Suite included in Studio 2009 Nov 8, 2010

Hello marimm,

To get the download for 2007 Suite please go to SDL.com Website to the area >My Account > My Purchases and there you will find all details relating to your purchase as well as all required download links.

I think you are right when you delete your first installation of the Studio 2009, then install the 2007 package, afterwards you can reinstall 2009.

Hope that would be helpful for you.

Good Luck!!

Verena

Installing Trados 2007 Suite (863) for existing users (Build 835) Jan 1, 2011

Hello!

I plan to install Trados Studio 2009 as well.
So far I have found out that the first step is to install Trados 2007 Suite (SDLTrados2007Suite_FL_863.exe) included within Trados Studio 2009.
Since I already have SDL Trados Translators Workbench 8.2.0.835 installed on my computer, I should actually just upgrade it to 8.2.0.863.

1. Before I do it, I need advice on the step concerning the existing licence for SDL Trados Translators Workbench 8.2.0.835 –

1. Before I do it, I need advice on the step concerning the existing licence for SDL Trados Translators Workbench 8.2.0.835 – is the licence for the old Trados version to be returned before installing the upgrade 8.2.0.863?

2. Also, is the SDLTrados2007Suite_PRO_SP3_863_Patch.exe mentioned in the Talisma article on Existing Users: Updating from SDL Trados 2007 Build 822, Build 826 (SP1) or Build 835 (SP2) Using the SDL Trados 2007 Suite Patch Installer
http://talisma.sdl.com/display/2/index.aspx?c=&cpc=&cid=&cat=&catURL=&r=0.609422028064728 the same as the file SDLTrados2007Suite_FL_863.exe included within Trados Studio 2009?

I have read various provided guides, but they do not give clear instructions on how to proceed.
Is the safest way to return the licences, deinstall everything old, and install everything from scratch?

Thank you for your help.

Returning the license is necessary Jan 1, 2011

You will need to return the license for T2007 build 835
As for the upgrade procedure I would rather uninstall all Trados components and use the full installer provided instead of "just" updating the existing installation.
