Cheers,

Useful beginner's manual Feb 20, 2004

Here is a link to a short manual that will at least get you started:

If you have the money, I strongly advise purchasing WordFast (http://www.wordfast.net) and learning it first. The program and its user manual are much more straightforward. If you learn WordFast, you can learn TRADOS more quickly... the opposite path is much harder.

Another valuable resource is the CAT Fight section of this website.

Good luck!

Getting Started Feb 20, 2004

Read the Getting Started document. It's for Trados Freelance 6.5, but the basics are the same:

If you are serious about Trados, I recommend contacting your local Trados office and purchasing a training class.

A recent beginner.... Feb 20, 2004

Don't panic, it's actually quite user friendly.

I purchased it 4 or 5 months ago and have only really started using it in the last month. The GETTING STARTED is very, very easy to follow, and don't forget that there is the useful FIX command in the Trados menu for when you get stuck.

Here are some tips from a beginner:

Be warned! Careful with the tags, especially as you are starting out, always have them visible OR work within the coloured boxes.

Work in Normal View (not print), especially if there are graphics.

It's really worth it, it has slowed down things (just a little) in some ways, becuase you have to adapt to a new way of working, but the potential for saving you work is enormous.

what did you use earlier to Trados? Feb 23, 2004

Hi! Trados has built in schooling docs and also audio visuals. If you take a print of the doc. it could be 2-3 files. But what did you use earlier to trados. The workbench works slightly different compared to the freelancer version.

Best Regards,
Brandis
