Hello all,

I'm trying to use a TMW TM in an SDL Trados 2009 Studio Freelance project, but I get the message: "the translation provider does not support this language pair". I did however select French and English as two of the five languages. What am I doing wrong?

Did you upgrade the TM in Studio 2009? Dec 7, 2010

Without having done that you will not be able to utilize the TM.

TM upgrade + another issue Dec 7, 2010

Hello Alain,
in addition to what Jerzy said, there might be one more problem: if you selected e.g. English (United Kingdom) and French (France) as your project languages but the translation memory uses English (United States) and French (Canada), you will get exactly this message.

You should therefore check if your project languages are the same as the TM languages.

TM language pair Dec 7, 2010

If different language pair is the issue, you can change the language. I cannot see this utility in T2009 but in SDLX of T2007. I use a rather complicate step to convert (until I find a better method). 1) Export TMW as TMX TM 2) Create a new TM in SDL Maintain [SDLX package program] 3) Open SDL Utilities 4) Convert TM (*.mdb) of SDL Maintain to the new language pair 5) Export as *.tmx format 6) Import to an existing T2009 TM. (If you understand the TMX format specification, you can convert it with a text editor e.g. changing the language code in concern).
