XML translation and placeholders in Trados 2009

I have mutliple problems with XML file translation. UTF-8 encoding. Trados 9.1.1264.0

1)Placeholders (:%s, %d, %) are not recognised, they are missing in the target column, but are visible in the translation memory file.

2)All numbers followed by full stop are displayed separately from the corresponding word or sentence e.g. „54. Project”. It seems that a number followed by full stop is considered as a separate sentence and therefore it is displayed in a separate row. Is it the standard Trados layout or incorrect XML tags?

I have recently started working with Trados and I would appreciate any help.
