TE can only use SDL's automatic translation provider Dec 25, 2010

TE interfaces to Workbench, which only provides one automatic translation provider, namely he one from SDL.

The two other providers, Language Weaver and Google, have been introduced starting with Studio 2009.

So, if you want to use Google Translate, you'll have to switch to Studio.
