Does anyone know how I go about creating a .itd (SDL Edit) file from a Word document? I have the 2007 version of SDL Trados but can't work out how to do it; I'm not sure if I need a higher version or not.

I don't use SDLX regularly, but I reckon your best option is to create a project. Run SDLX (it is part of the Trados 2007 setup, and you should have it in your Start menu folder Programs > SDL International > SDL Trados 2007 > SDLX) and use the Project Wizard to create a new project.

Happy new year!

Thanks Tomas, that seems to work. There are a lot of options and I'm not sure if I've selected the right ones, but I was able to create the .itd file so that's the main thing.

Sorry I was not very useful with the exact options! I usually receive ITD files ready for translation and quite honestly never cared about how to create them!

Good luck and a very happy new year to you!

Rosalind,

You can simply right-click the Word document you want to translate and select "Translate with SDLX" from the context menu.
