Dear all,

My Trados went mad after the latest update (the one of 5th Jan).
It shows an error message when I run it "java.io.FileNotFoundException: Resource null not found" At "Details" it tells me:

"java.io.FileNotFoundException: Resource null not found
at sun.applet.AppletClassLoader.getResourceAsResource(Unknown Source)
at sun.applet.AppletPanel$7.run(Unknown Source)
at sun.applet.AppletPanel$7.run(Unknown Source)
at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)
at sun.applet.AppletPanel.createSerialApplet(Unknown Source)
at sun.applet.AppletPanel.createApplet(Unknown Source)
at sun.plugin.AppletViewer.createApplet(Unknown Source)
at sun.applet.AppletPanel.runLoader(Unknown Source)
at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)"

It works more or less but for some files QuickInsert is not available, batch tasks are not available and it is impossible to save the file as ttx (the files that were originally in ttx).

I installed manually C++ Updates to make sure that I did not miss them - no change.

I have found this:
http://talisma.sdl.com/display/2n/articleDirect/index.aspx?aid=3353&r=0.3335486

and unchecked the Start Java Runtime Engine when starting up SDL Trados Studio option . Now it does not show the error message at the beginning and it saves files as ttx, but batch tasks are still not available.

I have tried to run the SP3 setup once again to repair the installation. It told me "setup complete" and no change.

I had blocked updating Java a while ago when my Trados crashed after a Java update (and I had to re-install Studio and Trados 2007). Could this be a reason?

What else can I try? Help!

Joanna

Recovered on its own - should I remove the files? Jan 14, 2011

Dear Jerzy,

Thank you for your help!

I delayed removing the files (worked on a project without batch tasks) and all of a sudden it started working ok, with batch tasks. Ok, I had to reset the system for another reason.
So, now it works (with the Start Java Runtime Engine when starting up SDL Trados Studio option ticked off). Do you think I can go on like this or shall I try to remove the files to avoid further problems?

Keep as it is Jan 14, 2011

You know now where to post, if problems arise. As long it works, do not change anything.
