Hi! I have this problem. When I open any Microsoft Word 2007 file I get an error message: Microsoft Visual Basic (Error 53) Archivo no encontrado (file not found). Then the file opens, but I can't use SDL Trados 2007 Translator's Workbench with it. I get another error message saying that the macro has not been found or is disabled. I have already enabled all macros but nothing changes. And I can't access the Trados toolbar. Any suggestions? Thanks! Silvina

Did you reinstall it? Jan 22, 2011

Hi Silvina. I'm not quite sure whether you restalled it or not?

My Trados 2007 with Office 2007 works well with all the functions including Macro. 2007 is not the updatest version of its family, yet its installation process is time-consuming, compared to its previous versions, such as 7.0, 6,5, so on. You may take a lot more patience to carefully complete all the installation of this tool.

Try it again, and good luck!

Please make sure you are using the proper template Jan 22, 2011

The error usually shows you are using the Trados8.dot but you have to use the Trados8.dotm

Installation Jan 22, 2011

Hi, thanks for your suggestions James and Jerzy.
I haven't re-installed the applications yet. Everything was working fine until one day this problem started.
Jerzy, I think the template I'm using is trados8.dotm. In fact, both, trados8.dot and trados8.dotm are in the Word Startup folder.
Thanks!
Silvina

For Word 2007 you MAY NOT have Trados8.dot Jan 22, 2011

Having both templates is full nonsense. If you use any command, BOTH templates try to execute it. This must produce an error. Delete the Trados8.dot from the Word startup folder.

Problem solved Jan 28, 2011

Hi! Jerzy was right. It seems the problem was having both template files (.dot and .dotm) in the same folder. I erased the .dot one and both errors (macro not found and visual basic file not found) dissapeared. Thanks a lot!

I had same error, different cause and solution Feb 11, 2011

My problem was exactly like Silvina described (therefore I do not repeat it here).

However,
trados8.dotm
was the only file in the MS word startup folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\my_user_name\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP

Skipping all pain, it turned out that the above file at the above location was corrupt and had a smaller size than should have (53 KB)

The original (correct)
trados8.dotm
lives in a Trados folder:
C:\Program Files\SDL International\T2007_FL\TT\Templates
Its size is 388 KB.

Copy it to the word startup folder, and the problem is fixed.

* This problem occurred on a fresh installation of MS office 2007 and a fresh installation of SDL Trados 2007.
"Repair trados installation" did not fix the problem, though apparently this looks like a best candidate to be fixed by "repairs". (A file did not copy properly - so then, why would not a repair overwrite it?)
Dear official Trados support: if you read this, please file the above as an installation/repair bug.
