Trados Studio 2009: can't get my term base to recognize repeated terms in the source

As always, forgive me if this subject has already been brought up.

I am working in Studio 2009, and have a termbase open. I keep adding new terms, which I can see in the bottom termbase window, but they are not recognized when they appear in the source text (no helpful brackets to suggest that the term is recognized, and no result in the upper term recognition window).

I have a feeling that I should activate the recognition somewhere. What to do?

We're halfway there... Jan 28, 2011

Hello there, Jerzy!

Thanks for the suggestion. I deselected the option that you mentioned. Now, if I do a manual search on the term in the upper right-hand termbase search window, the translation appears. However, I'm still not getting a placeables bracket in the source. Is this normal?

Thank you ever so much for your help!

Not really... Jan 28, 2011

Most probably your term recognition stopped working due to usage of Workbench in the meantime.
Close Studio.
Either from Start - Programs ... Multiterm - SideBySide tools or from the installation folder of Multiterm let the task "Activate MT 2009" run (from directory with right-click and Run as admin).

This should bring the term recognition back to work.

Hmmm... I'm in Multiterm, but I don't see what you mean. Jan 28, 2011

I've opened the termbase in the Catalog of MultiTerm, but can't find anything marked "installation" or "activate". Am I in the right place?

Thanks!

Where in Multiterm? Jan 29, 2011

In MultiTerm program group (Start - Programs and so on...) or in the INSTALLATION directory of MultiTerm? This would be on c: in Program files or Programs or similar.
I do not know your operating system and language, so how shall I tell where it is...

Bear with me, Jerzy... Jan 29, 2011

I have switched to English to be able to follow you, and I am on Windows XP.

I still haven't solved the problem, but I would like to create a model that works well once and for all (while changing the termbase according to the client), so please keep me informed.

Thank you!
