Problem activating SDL Trados Translation Studio 2009- Please help!

I receive the error message [ Could not contact activation server (Error code 50041)] and sometimes I receive the error message [ The activation of the fulfillment is denied by the activation policy because fulfill count exceeded the seat count # 7290-5816 (Error code 50040)].

I had to reinstall my Windows XP Professional, and now I installed my Trados Studio 2009 but cannot re-activate it.

I went to the license manager, but the option "return license" is not active. I also made sure that no firewall preventing contacting servers.

Please help!

Hi Waleed,

Looks like you haven't returned the license before reinstalling Windows. You will be unable to re-activate Studio without SDL support.

If you have already tried the suggestions in KB article # 2298 Troubleshooting common errors during license activation (http://kb.sdl.com/article.aspx?article=2298&p=1), I would suggest you follow this path:
- Licensing Problems
- My software runs in demo mode only, or Activation/Licensing does not work.
- Activation Code
- I receive an error during activation.
- My firewall settings are correct.
- This kind of software is turned off. I still get an error when I try to activate my software.

The form will log a case in our Support system and a Support Engineer will deal with your request as soon as possible.
