When trying to install my version of Multiterm 2007 on a new Windows 7 64-bits system, I got an incompatibility error. I’ve had difficulty finding a work-around for this one. Then I came accross this post:

I tried it and it seems to do the trick on Windows 7, as acknowledged by other members too.
So all the credit goes to Marc Baas.

In a nutshell:

1) If not already done, install Trados 2007 (shouldn't give any problems)

2) Install Multiterm 2007 up 'till the point where you get an error that a certain "start.exe" file is not compatible with a 64 bits operating system.

3) Make hidden files and folders visible. Start>Control Panel>Aspects and Personalization>Folder Options > Show Hidden Files and Folders. In the Folders Options dialog, ensure the option “Show hidden files, folders and drives” is selected, then click OK.

4) In Windows Explorer, browse to C:\Users\{your username}\AppData\Local\Temp\SDL MultiTerm 2007 Desktop SP1\. Ignore the start.exe (the one generating the compatiblity error).

5) Open Products > SDL MultiTerm 2007 Desktop.

6) Double-click the file named setup.exe. Follow the onscreen instructions.

7) Go back to the Folders Options dialog box (via the Control panel - see step 3) and make hidden files and folders invisible again.

Hi all,

Me too, I had the same problem, and I want now to thank you for this precious help.
In my view, Trados is one of the greatest Cat Tools, and having Multiterm without working at all, it would be very frustrating.
Thank you once more!

Not supported Nov 14, 2013

Hi Jean-Philippe Buchkremer

It is simple, because SDL MultiTerm 2007 is not officially supported on 64bit operating systems.

Therefore you can install SDL MultiTerm 2009/2011 that works also in conjunction with Translators Workbench and TagEditor when you install the available Cumulative Hotfix:

For SDL Trados 2007 Suite + SDL MultiTerm 2009:

For SDL Trados 2007 Suite + SDL MultiTerm 2011:
