tags and extra blank spaces

Hi!!

I haven´t many experience using Trados 2009, so I need your help.

I'm translating an HTML document and when I use the verification, I got this error "Extra blank spaces detected"

Looking at the code, the problem has to be in this line:

Words or characters as they appear on the screen. These include field names, screen titles, buttons, menu names, paths and options.

However, this line is similar and I don´t get any error

Variable user entry. Pointed brackets indicate that you replace these words and characters with the appropriate entries.

In trados, if I remove the spaces around the tag, I got an error saying that spaces have been removed. Should I remove them from the source? Why do I get these errors?

Many thanks,

Hi again,

I write again the lines of the HTML that were wrong

This is the problematic one:
Words or characters (anchor) as they appear on the screen. These include field names, screen titles, buttons, menu names, paths and options.

And this is the one that is right but has the same tag

Variable user entry. Pointed brackets (anchor)indicate that you replace these words and characters with the appropriate entries.

PS. I write the whole word of the tag because otherwise is not shown.

First of all, this forum is not tag-friendly, and to type tags, you can add spaces inside the brackets. I found your examples in the HTML source of the page.

Words or characters < /a > as they appear on the screen. These include field names, screen titles, buttons, menu names, paths and options.

However, this line is similar and I don´t get any error

Variable user entry. Pointed brackets < /a >indicate that you replace these words and characters with the appropriate entries.

In the first example, the < /a > tag has spaces before and after, so they will add up to a double space. In the second example, there is only a single space before the tag.

You should remove either space from the first example, and not worry about the warning. If both appear in the source, it is a source error that you should not recreate in your translation.
