Hi,

I need to edit a translation using Trados, checking that the translation used the TM.
I am working with the 2007 version of Trados in SDL 2009.

I received the TM, which I already uploaded to my Trados.

I also received a Word document, which is the unclean translation.

My problem: when I try to open the word document in Trados, what I get is the following message:
"This file cannot be processed as TTX because it was saved as a bilingual document in Word."

I assume I should do the editing directly on trados?

Can someone help me please???

Thanks!!

heidi

Use Word Mar 25, 2011

Hello Heidi,
the only way to process the file is to use Word as the editing environment. Studio will not open bilingual files, UNFORTUNATELY.

Comparing to TM Mar 25, 2011

Thanks Stanislav!
So I just review it in Word.

How can I compare it with the TM? (I was asked to check it with the TM and send in the new corrected TM...) Is is possible to do this?

Word + Trados Workbench Mar 25, 2011

Do it the old way:

Open the memory in Trados Workbench, open the file in Word and press Alt+Home.
That opens the first segment and any changes you make is entered into the memory.

(Though you'll have to minimize the Word window in order to be able to see both the Word file and the TM match at the same time.)

Thanks Ulf!

My problem was that I can't even open in Trados the word file they sent me, as it was part of the bilingual file...

I tried saving it as a regular word file, copying and pasting it... Nothing!!
I still get the same error response.

One would think that reviewing a document using a CAT tool should make things easier, not more cumbersome...
