I'm open to all suggestions, but how is the Trados 2007 utility going to help me with a Trados 2009 problem? | | | Nick Quaintmere Germany Local time: 23:15 German to English + ... TOPIC STARTER Additional info | Mar 30, 2011 |
Perhaps I should have mentioned this from the start! The problem is occurring during initial processing. The document converts to SDLXIFF from TTX, and copies to target language but the process breaks down in the next stage [Analyze files/Pre-translate files/Translation count] meaning that I cannot do anything with the file. The TTX is editable in Tag Editor - but what a nightmare! I'll be working at it for days with that! PS. I tried Jerzy's remedy ... See more Perhaps I should have mentioned this from the start! Hello Nick, if you have the INX, why not load it directly into Studio instead of the TTX workaround? Or is it your client who requires a TTX file? If so, you might want to try the following. 1. Open the TTX file in Notepad 2. Press CTRL+H, find Type="start" and replace it with nothing, i.e. leave the "Replace with" field blank 3. Do the same with RightEdge="angle" 4. Try to reload these TTX files into Studio. It might be working. | | | Nick Quaintmere Germany Local time: 23:15 German to English + ... TOPIC STARTER Trados also won't open the INX | Mar 31, 2011 |
Something else, I apparently forgot to mention. But the workaround sounds like it my be an interesting option. At the moment, I am about 2/3s of the way through translating the file in TagEditor, so it's probably not worth switching now. But I'll try it out later and report back if it worked. I am wondering if the problem is actually in the original INX file as I opened it in InDesign with the idea of saving it as an IDML file and that didn't work either ... ... Having said that, the only workable file I have is from my customer who converted the INX to TTX with Trados 6.5(!). Why it worked for him and not me is inexplicable. ▲ Collapse | |

This does explain the trouble you've had. I do wonder too, how the customer got the INX so far, but unfortunately I am also quite certain the TTX will not produce the INX back even at the customers machine... The best solution would be IMHO to get the original INDD file from the customer, produce an IDML, import TTX into TM and translate in Studio. This is what I would go for. | | | Nick Quaintmere Germany Local time: 23:15 German to English + ... TOPIC STARTER I may be wrong about the Trados version ... | Mar 31, 2011 |
they may indeed have Trados 7/2007. And I'm certainly having no problems creating an INX from the TTX (that's a small comfort at least!). Your solution may be the best one, Jerzy. I received this tip from a non-ProZ source (Ms. Anna Kuzminsky) who came across this thread in the net.
