Hi everyone,
First time I post here, and I do hope you can help me solve this problem, as I'm stuck at the moment.

My problem:
The PowerPoint file (version 97-2003) is already converted into a TTX format by my client. When I open the TTX file with TagEditor, a pop-up window displays:

"Failed to create component Trados.PowerPointParagraphIdentifier".

The file still opens, I can work and save, but when I send back the translated TTX file to my client, they cannot clean it against the source file. Any suggestions?

I use:
- SDL Trados 2006 (version 7.5)
- TagEditor (version 7.5)
- PowerPoint 2007 (in case it is somehow used...)
- Windows Vista

Thank you in advance
Xavier

Could be a TTX incompatibility Apr 7, 2011

This could be due to an incompatibility because the TTX has been created with a different version of the SW than you have.
The best would be to ask for the source PPT and open that one in your Tag Editor, so that the conversion to TTX is done on your system.

You may also check what SW version your client has. It may be more recent, in that case, upgrading your SW might also solve the problem.

maybe some more data... Apr 7, 2011

Thank you Walter, it could be a TTX incompatibility... But it might be more:

Actually I asked the client to provide me with TTX files because when I try to open a PPT file (version 97-2003) with TagEditor, I have the following messages:

Failed to create file parser Trados.PowerPointFileParser

and then:

(80005): Failed to create parser for plugin file format!

and in this case the file doesn't open at all icon_frown.gif

I thought of upgrading to a newest version of Trados, it might be time! This, though, doesn't solve today's problem!

Any more suggestions?

Thanks again for your time
Xavier

SOLUTION FOUND AND EASY Feb 16, 2012

Hi Xav,

And all team members.

For those who have this error under Powerpoint or Excel.

I spent 3 hours before thinking about the Restauration function.
I remembered that 3 weeks prior to this error everything was ok with Tag Editor.

I did a restauration 3 weeks before, rebooted, and no problem.

Tony
