Evening all,

I have a .pptx file that has been sent to me by a customer. Every time I try to open it (in Studio 09, fully service-packed), I get the above error message. I've tried saving it as an earlier version of PowerPoint and opening in TagEditor first, but to no avail.

Is there anything else I can try? I'd be very grateful for any suggestions?

Many thanks
Mary

Maybe your file type definition files are corrupt Apr 13, 2011

Go to the Library in Win 7 (or My documents in Win XP), locate the folder Documents, open the SDL Trados Studio within.
You'll find a "File Types" folder there. Make a backup copy of it.
Delete the content of this folder.
Go to the folder, where your programs are installed (program files or program files(x86)) an find the SDL folder. Open the Studio folder inside and go down the folder structure until you find a File Types folder there. Copy the full content from there to the folder you just emptied and try again.

Thanks Jerzy, I really appreciate your prompt help. Unfortunately, the problem has not been resolved. I've followed your instructions and I still have the same issues!icon_frown.gif

Does saving in PPT 2003 solve the problem? Apr 13, 2011

Is PPT 2007 installed on your machine?

Maybe the interop assemblies are not properly installed Apr 13, 2011

Could you try to download and install these MS interoperability assemblies?

Thanks Jerzy for your time. I've stopped and started Trados and it now seems to be working - let's hope it stays that way!

Best regards
Mary
