Hi, I just thought that if someone else ever has encountered a problem in which TagEditor crashes all the time when opening TTX files converted from InDesign INX, I think I have finally found a solution to that. More specifically, TagEditor (2007 version at least) may crash either without any explanation or with error related to Tradostmfc.dll file. As I haven't had any luck with the provided hotfixes or Windows/.NET/Trados updates whatsoever, and the issue remained, I thought of changing my screen resolution to something lower than the highest possible in my configuration (1600 x 1200). After I changed it to 1280 x 1024, all the crashes were GONE!

Apparently, the error was somehow related to displaying fonts at a specific resolution. So far (and I've already tried several times) I haven't been able to get Tageditor to crash anymore.

So, if you have had the similar problem and this advice helps you, please let me know somehow!

BR,
Mikko

Computer configuration used:

-Windows XP Pro (SP3), all latest updates installed (also for Trados)
- PC (w/ 4 GB RAM)
- 512 MB Nvidia GeForce 9400GT display adapter
- LC Flatron W2486L wide-screen TFT LCD display

You can have that easier... Apr 20, 2011

Leave your resolution as it was.
Just make the window of TagEditor only half the width of your screen.
And switch off all the unnecessary screen formatting for INX files in the Filter Settings.

Thank you, that really helped! May 3, 2011

after hours of reinstalling, asking other colleagues for help etc, this made the trick. Thank you!
Jerzy, how can I switch off all the unnecessary screen formatting for INX files in the Filter Settings, as you recommend?

regards
