Dear Catherine,

tried it but... Jun 24, 2011

so far everything I tried failed...

At worst I'll uninstall Trados 2007 and Multiterm and reinstall it on another laptop while I get this one fixed...

But it is a pain !

Does not seem specific to me, but here goes :

"Setup did not complete. The error is : Package "SDL Trados Studio 2009 SP3" could not be installed. Errur irrécupérable lors de l'installation. Error number:1603."

My os is Windows Vista.

Installing Trados 2007 and Multiterm was fine.

You have to:

This error may appear when an existing installation of Java 2 Runtime Enviroment 6 Update 14 conflicts with the Java 2 Runtime Enviroment 6 Update 14 installation that is shipped with the SDL Trados Studio 2009 and SDL MultiTerm 2009 in the installation package.

Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

Abort the installation if it is still in process.
Close all opened SDL applications.
Go to START > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs (or Programs and features)
In the list of installed products scroll down to Java(TM) 6 Update xx and highlight it.
Click on Remove/uninstall and uninstall the Java(TM) 6 Update xx.
Run the SDL Trados Studio / SDL MultiTerm installation again.
If the error still appears, make sure your existing installation of an AntiVirus/Firewall suite software does not block the installation by disabling it temporarily.

Also make sure that you have enough free disk space. To make some disk space available:

Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Click Performance and Maintenance.
Click Free up space on your hard disk.
The Disk Cleanup dialog box appears.
On the Disk Cleanup tab, select the following check boxes:
Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files
Temporary Files
Temporary Offline Files Offline Files
Click OK to delete the files from these locations.
When prompted, click Yes start the disk cleanup.
