Hello,

I'd like to know if in Trados 2009 performing either "save target as"or "finalize" at the end of the translation lead to the same result, i.e. producing a clean file.
So far I only did the 1st option when delivering translation tests to client requiring a clean file, hope I didn't do it wrongly.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Clean files Aug 24, 2011

Hello

Save target as / File Batch task Finalize produces the same result - ie a translated file.
The word clean files comes from the old Trados Word bilingual files - when to produce the final translated files it was necessary to 'clean' the file and remove all the tags to bring it back to a Word file.

In Studio
Save as = Save the bilingual Studio file with both languages (SDLXLiff)
Save Target as = create a translated file which is clean.
Only exception is that if you are translating an old TTX or ITD file from previous version - when you click on Save as it gives you the choice of saving as a TTX or ITD Bilingual (so technically still an unclean file) or as a target file.

I hope this helps.

Regards
Massi
