Hi,

I'm wondering if it's possible to create a TM based on a translation where I've simply overwritten the original text with my translation, i.e. I have a source text and a target text but the translation has not been done with the help of a translation memory. (Is that what is an alignment??) Is it possible?

Best regards,

Joakim

If you have both the source document and your final translation, you can align them and create a TM.

Can I do this directly with/in Trados Studio 2009?

Probably not in Studio Oct 4, 2011

I'm no expert of Studio, but what I have heard is you need the Align software from SDL Trados 2007. There are a lot of software for aligning, in any case you will get only the raw text aligned, no formatting features, and all aligners can deliver tmx-format which can be imported into any tool on the market.

Hello Annett,
if you have Studio 209, you will also need T2007 installed. Then simply go to the Home view in Studio and click on "Align Translated Documents". This will open WinAlign from T2007.
