Hi,

I am in the middle of the project and Trados fails to open the sdlxliff file. Error msg:

Unexpected error when detecting file type '.sdlxliff': '.', hexadecimal value 0x00, is an invalid character. Line 127731, position 12.

I have tried with

1. doing the Trados update
2. restarting the computer
3. renaming the file & opening it
4. changing back to the actual name and opening it
5. In addition, I have deleted temp fo... See more

5. In addition, I have deleted temp folders & junk using Ccleaner and tried agn.

Nothing helps. Although, file naming is proper, and format is correct.

I will be glad to get help in overcoming this glitch.

Hope it helps. You just have to open a new sdl_xliff file (bilingual file) for the source file. Then, regenerate it using the TM (use Ctrl + t).

The way I've fixed this problem: Nov 25, 2012

1. Open Trados Studio (mine is 2009).
2. Upload (open) the TM you're going to use.
3. Open the original file *.docx.
4. Start translating (two segments, for example).
5. Save as... *.sdlxliff.

(Later on you can also save as target in *.docx should you need it.)

Hope it works for you as it did for me.
