Why can't SDL Trados 2009 SP3 connect to Google automated translation after creating a project?

Just starting with SP3 2009, was using 2007 until now. I managed to create a project but could not connect to Google automated translation. This occured as I tried to change the project settings while I was in the editing environment.
So, I decided to start over and set Google during initial project settings. In the screen regarding automated translation and TM, I specify that I want Google automated translation, then I click "enabled" and a little red circle with an "X" in it appears to the right of the Google item, and I am unable to use Auto-translation for the project.
What am I doing wrong here?
