Hello!

I am using Trados Studio 2009. I just got a job to translate a special .XML file (named: calculator-en.xml), and the job owner sent a filter (calculator.sdlfiletype) with a setting file (calculator.sdlftsettings). I have tried to use the filter, but I didn't manage...

What I did was:
1. Go to "Tools" --> "Options"
2. click on "File Types" at the left
3. click on "add" at the right
4. add the filter (calculator.sdlfiletype)
And then I prepare / translate the XML file as usual

There are more than a thousand words to translate, as I am told by job owner, and as I can see from a plain text editor. However, I only see about 200 words in the file to translate (calculator-en.xml.sdlxliff)

I wonder how to use the filter properly... Could you help?

Many thanks!!

You're almost there... Dec 25, 2011

Hi Ken,

In the same menu you added the new file filter look at the bottom. You will see a button called "Import Settings". Make sure you have the new file selected and then import the calculator.sdlftsettings you were sent.

In 2009 you need both files for this, but in 2011 you only need the settings.

Regards

Paul
