Dear All,

I have recently completed a larger project with Studio 2009. Now, the agency has contacted me with a request (their customer demands the text in another format or other). They asked me if I can send the

a) the files converted to ttx or itd and
b) the TM converted to TMX

I have saved all the files, but did delete the project in Studio. So, can I import the Sdlxliff files simply into Studio again (the finished files) although they are already completed?

Is it possible to convert the TM to TMX? I did not find anywhere to do it.

Any urgent advice will be very much appreciated!

Annett

Quick notes... Apr 19, 2012

Hello Annett,
Just a quick explanation: you can export your .sdltm file to a .tmx through the menu Tools > Update Translation Memories. Once you have uploaded your TM and chosen .tmx, export it from the TM tab.
I'm sorry not to have more time to explain, but hope this helps!

Only upgrade possible Apr 19, 2012

Hi Verslanglais,

Thanks for helping me. However, I can only upgrade TMX to SDLTM there. What I need is vice versa: from SDLTM to TMX.

export from TM view. Apr 19, 2012

Go to Translation memories (bottom left-hand corner of your screen).
Open your TM. Click the TM icon with an arrow leaving it. (Or go to file>export).
Save in TMX format.

Files? Apr 19, 2012

However, I don't succeed in converting the files into ttx.format (or itd.). I have the files as sldxliff and as doc (the target).

Is there any possibility to convert them?

SDLXLIFF to Legacy Converter Apr 19, 2012

In the "old days" you HAD to start by converting to TTX before translating.
Now, you can use a great app from the SDL OpenExchange called SDLXLIFF to Legacy Converter. You can download it from here:
http://www.sdl.com/en/language-technology/sdl-openexchange/AppDetails.aspx?appid=194
It appears to work with 2009 as well as 2011, although I haven't tested it on 2009 myself.
Good luck!

Hi Annett,

To convert SDLXLIFF files into TTX files, use SDLXLIFF to Legacy Converter.

It is free (download from the SDL website). Here is the link:
http://www.sdl.com/en/language-technology/sdl-openexchange/AppDetails.aspx?appid=194

Let us know how you are doing.

Good luck!

Miguel

Feedback Apr 23, 2012

I just wanted to add the feedback I got from my client: they have been very grateful and commented that the files work very well.

So, this program can be highly recommended.

Thanks again for your prompt and competent help!

Hi Will,

The first time I tried to download it didn't work, then I tried again and detected that you have first to choose for which Trados version you want to make the download. I hadn't seen that the first time and downloaded the programm for converting from Studio 2011. When I tried it the second time and downloaded the programm for Studio 2009, it worked.

I hope this helps?!
