I was hoping someone would be able to explain the concept of Word macros and Trados - do macros have to be enabled in order for Trados to work? To my understanding, as a rule, macros should be disabled as they can pose security threats.
Thanks in advance for helping a newbie out
Best wishes, Sofia

While malicious macros can do damage, they are generally a very useful feature that lets you automate many tedious tasks. Trados 2007 and older needs macros to work when you use Translators' Workbench with Word. Trados Studio and Tag Editor don't seem to need Word macros as they allow you to work outside Word.
