Hi all,

since yesterday I have a new strange problem. Whenever I open a workbench memory I can't see it, nor I can see any of the menus. Thus I can't analyse, clean up files, etc. and I can't search the memory...

Thank you for any kind help and advice on how to solve this problem!

Matilde

It is not clear what your problem is. Jun 15, 2012

Hi Matilde,

"Whenever I open a workbench memory I can't see it, nor I can see any of the menus."

Can't see what? The TM? Workbench?

Can you activate workbench? Is it running in you Task Manager?

If yes, does this mean you can't open a translation memory? What menus can't you see? In Workbench? In TagEditor? Other? What CAN you see?
Can you access the TMs in Explorer? What happens if you double-click on one of them?

If nobody understands what the problem is, nobody can help you.

BTW, have you tried restoring your computer to an earlier date?

Hi Sangro Jun 15, 2012

Thank you for your kind reply.

I can't see the workbench bar. And none of its menus: I don't recall them all, but the usual ones Open, Clean up/ analyse, etc, Concordance...nothing!
I can activate workbench and it is running (and I can open all memories), but it's useless without having access to those functions...

I have also tried restoring the computer to an earlier date, yes, and it didn't work, I got an error message saying that it was impossible to load an earlier date((

Sorry it's unclear, but it's so strange that it's even difficult to describe...

Kind regards,
Matilde

Hello Matilde,
perhaps posting a screenshot would be helpful.

But could it be that your Workbench window is simply moved "above" the top edge of your screen? Can you seee the Workbench window title bar?

Are you talking about the "Flagman" toolbar in Word? Jun 15, 2012

If the problem is that you can't see the Workbench toolbar in Word, check the solutions proposed here:

http://fra.proz.com/forum/sdl_trados_support/54040-word_menu_bar_disappeared_completely.html

Whatever your problem is I can assure you that someone already had it and it was probably discussed many times in this forum.

However, you will have to explain what it is.

Cool, I didn't know it was possible :) Jun 15, 2012

Hi Stanislav,

how do you post a screenshot here in the forum?

I tried pasting the image but it doesn't work.

Sangro, no, I'm not talking about that one. That's easy to fix and it's been asked thousands of times...

Kind regards,
Matilde

Hi Matilde,
please refer to this page for more information on how to work with the BB code. There's also a paragraph on inserting images.

I hope it helps?

Editing TW's position on the screen Jun 18, 2012

Hi Matilde,
I believe that your problem:

could be related to the Workbench position on your computer screen.

Please try the following:
1. Click the Windows button
2. Type regedit (Win 7) or select "Run..." and then type regedit to enter the Registry Editor
3. Go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Trados\TW4Win\Last Session and find the "Y" key in the right-hand part of the Registry Editor
4. Double-click the "Y" key and enter a reasonable value, e.g. 10
5. Launch Workbench and see if the menus now display correctly.
