How to change spell check language?

German to English

I'm working on a project from Germany into UK English.
Halfway through, however, the customer wants US spellings.
How can I change the project settings to have US English?
Many thanks!

... but you could swap the dictionaries used (if you use Hunspell) so that Studio reads en(UK) to match your existing project but uses the contents of the en(US). Or you could export to word using the SDLXLIFF Converter and spell check in Word using a US dictionary.

To do the Hunspell method go to here (I've assumed a 64-bit machine but remove the (x86) part if not):

c:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio2\HunspellDictionaries\

Then rename these files so you don't lose them by changing the extension to something else... so for example:

en_GB.aff to en_GB.aff_safe
en_GB.dic to en_GB.dic_safe

Now make a copy of these:

And rename them as these:

The effect is that the GB dictionary is now using US content.

I'm assuming you know how to use a US dictionary in Word... but just in case :

Thanks a lot Paul, I'll give it a go.
