I use the wizard to create a new translation memory, click on the newly created memory to open it, open the document to be translated and get the message: ‘no open translation memory’. How can I get the memory to work?

Hi,

Open Project Settings and add your TM, check Update if not already checked.

QuickStart Guide Aug 9, 2012

I think you may benefit from reading the PDF Quickstart Guide that is installed alongside Studio.

You shouldn't click to open a newly created TM, but add it to your project. If you're in the Editor window, go to Project>project settings>all language pairs>TM and then "add" in the right-hand" window.

HTH,
Emma

I provided you the link to a forum thread, NOT to the guide Aug 9, 2012

Please use the link to talisma.sdl.com to search for the guide yourself.

You can also open HELP in your software.

Maybe review these vidoes... Aug 9, 2012

Hi,

It's hard to tell what you are doing, but maybe you have created a Project and then used the "Open Document" command to open your file. I have seen this before and the problem is that the "Open Document" command is actually a way to create a single file project, so rather than opening the file in the project you already created you may have just created another, but without using the TM you added into the first project.... maybe?

There is a video here explaining how to use the "Open Document" method:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnjMC2ImL9M

There is also a video here explaining how to work with a Project if you create this through the "Create Project" wizard:

Maybe these will help you see where the problem is?

Regards

Paul
