If you encountered the following error, when importing an exported TMX file into SDL Trados 2007 Workbench:

(50400): Error in TMX input

(TMX files exported from Xbench, Transit and Wordfast may have this issue)

Here is the Solution:

1. Open the TMX file with Notepad or UltraEdit.

2. In the first row, ...xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8' ?>, delete (encoding='utf-8')
make it look like ...xml version='1.0'?>

3. Save the TMX file in UTF-16 encoding

In Notepad, choose Unicode encoding
In UltraEdit, choose UTF-16 encoding

This solution also applies to the following error:

(35000): SSLex0105e: Invalid token, Line 1, Offset 1

When importing a TMX file exported from Trados 2009 into Trados 2007, you may see this error.

Good luck!
