Some good suggestions, Edouard. Pity you have closed your blog article to comments as I wanted to mention another workaround, if your "best practice" doesn't work.

The SDLXLIFF to Legacy Converter on the SDL OpenExchange is a great little tool. It converts SDLXLIFF files to bilingual word files as well as ttx and tmx.
