Hello ,
I currently have two versions of the same document, the original in english and its translation in french. I would like to build up a TM from those two files.
Do you have an idea of how I could do it ?
Thank you very much for all you suggestions.

Gabriel

Align Jul 27, 2004

I guess almost all CAT Tools offer an align function.
This is what you could use to create a TM out of the two documents.

What CAT do you use? *Ups* I see we are in TRados Support Sorry

Try these support page maybe it helps:

Alignment is the word Jul 27, 2004

Hi Gabriel

The procedure to build a TM from two documents is called alignment. Most (all?) CAT tools have features for this purpose. And I think to remember there are some stand-alone tools as well.

Look alignment up in the reference material of your CAT.

If you do not have any, PlusTools (an "extension" to Wordfast) can do the job - it a freeware (Wordfast is not, but the free demo is enough for this purpose) - http://www.wordfast.net

Best luck

WinAlign Jul 27, 2004

Hi Gabriel,
Assuming that you have Trados, you can use WinAlign for this purpose.

Have a look at TranslationZone for an interactive tutorial.
