Hi all,

I could really use your help on this issue I am facing. Ever since I bought the SDL Trados 2011, I am having difficulty generating a bilingual file (such as .ttx, .xml.ttx file, etc.) in version created in older versions of Trados especially Trados 2007

Right now, I am taking an exam and I was given an .xml.ttx file format. I was able to open it in Trados 2011 since it automatically converts it to .sdlxiff. Now my problem is I need to convert this .sdlxiff back to its original format which is .xml.ttx. I was only able to create a .ttx file using legacy converter. But my client can't open it and is asking me to fix it.

Can anyone help me resolve this issue, please?

I'd really appreciate any help. Thank you in advance!

Best regards,
Stephanie

TTX Oct 1, 2012

Hi Stephanie,

If you received an .xml.ttx and opened this in Studio then you now have this:

.xml.ttx.sdlxliff

If you use the legacy converter you now have this:

.xml.ttx.sdlxliff.ttx

So a TTX that is based on the sdlxliff and not on the original xml file.

In order to get the TTX all you have to do is use File -> Save Target As and you will be presented with two choices. Save as original file format which would be the XML, or as a TTX which will be a fully translated version of the xml.ttx you started with.

Regards

Paul
