Deal All,

Up to today I was using my SDL Trados Studio 2009 without any problems at all. Now I try to open the software and I get an "unexpected error while loading application plug-ins", leaving me with the following report:

An unexpected error has occurred while loading the application plug-ins.

Could someone please help?

Many thanks,

Delete Oct 23, 2012

This is for Trados 2011, but for 2009 it just another number behind Trados Studio:

Go here:

%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\10.0.0.0

And delete these files:

BaseSettings.xml
plugincache.xml
UserSettings.xml

Error while loading.... Oct 23, 2012

Try renaming the folder SDL Trados Studio in the path you indicated to xSDL Trados Studio and then restart Studio. Studio will not be able to find the folder upon restarting and will recreate the contents.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately I can't seem to find these files. Thanks anyway and should you know of any other possible solution; I am still riddled

Best regards,

Daniel

Did you found the right directory? Oct 24, 2012

On my old PC the Trados 2009 directory is:

C:\Users\Blaettler\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\9.1.0.0

Can you see this dirctory? But it's empty?

You then should enable "Show hidden files" in the File Explorer. I've explained it here again:

cannot find directory Oct 24, 2012

Strangely enough I can't even find the directory. When I'm inside the 'User' directory (Emma), there is nothing named AppData, and nothing containing anything named Roaming.

Best regards,

Daniel

That is how it works Oct 25, 2012

Windows hides these directories by default.

Did you follow my link? And just paste
%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\

into your file explorere?`

You can also just type \AppData when you are in the user directory

Thank you so much! Jan 1, 2015

Another quick fix thanks to this forum. Argh, how I hate SDL's meaningless error messages with no hints on how to resolve them!
