Which translation memory system in the EU?

The EU had a tender for "CAT tools - translation memory system". They published a contract award notice on 18-Oct-2012, indicating that "the economic operator in favour of whom the contract was awarded" was Trados Benelux, in other words, the incumbent operator. No specific tool/system was mentioned. The most recent press release from SDL as of this writing is from 16-Oct-2012, so SDL hasn't told the world about it yet. Does this mean the EU decided to continue using their existing system (legacy Trados), rather than Studio?

Trados Benelux is a legal entity owned by SDL plc. SDL still maintain various Trados legal entity which are still used for invoicing purposes. Nonetheless this is just a technicality and for all intents and purposes Trados Gmbh or Trados Benelux are the equivalent of SDL.

Press release? Nov 9, 2012

Thanks, Massimo! How come there isn't any press release about it yet? Well, there's no press release about your CEO stepping down either... Aren't these news important to the outside world?

There will be... Nov 9, 2012

... once all the administration is complete. Why are you so concerned about it?

We did tweet the announcement today as the contract was signed so you can expect something soon. I can confirm it was of course Studio and not Trados that is the technology the EU will be using.
