I am using Trados Studio 2011 SP2. It was fine until yesterday.
Now, every time I open it, I get the following error:
'Update failed. Information about the automatic update could not be downloaded. The update server may not be available. The incorrect status was returned by the server. If you do not wish the application to update itself automatically, you can turn updates off in Tools > Options > Automatic Updates.'
Does anyone know what is go... See more I am using Trados Studio 2011 SP2. It was fine until yesterday.

I'm glad you posted that Tania - I'm getting the same message, but I only just installed it this week so I assumed it was a problem in the installation process. Clearly it's something bigger than that if you're getting it after having used it for a while. Looking forward to any suggestions!

I've been using it for months, haven't done anything unusual, it was fine. Then yesterday, out of the blue, I started getting this error. I even tried to do a manual update and got the same error. It's weird.
Glad to know I'm not the only one, though.
Maybe someone will know what's wrong...?

I think the problem is related to the central server of SDL.

Thanks Gyula,
If that's really the problem than we just have to wait until they sort it out, right?
I was beginning to think that maybe something had gone wrong with my software.

Thank you in advance. Since i began to have the same issue yesterday as well and other people are experiencing the same issue i suspect SDL may be doing works on their servers. It's just a best guess. Perhaps someone from SDL would like to provide more infos? Thanks
I installed a software yesterday and thought it was because of that...got scared. I am relieved now it probably has nothing to do with my installation!

I don't think it has anything to do with installing software. I've had service pack 2 for ages, I didn't install anything recently and it just started yesterday. From what I've been reading here, I really believe it may be connected to the servers at SDL as it's been suggested. It's too much of a coincidence that we all started to experience the same error yesterday.
Maybe someone at SDL could enlighten us.

and as everyone else has found, it was working fine until now, but has given this message every time I opened it today. I have solved it temporarily by turning off automatic updates for the moment. Not sure whether I am relieved or irritated to find we are all having this problem!

I have the same problem with the 2009 version. I uninstalled and re-installed the software but it did not work. It might be a server issue for all versions!

I am a bit angry on the software owner as they had to put a note on their website about such issues. It took me hours to try to find solutions. Now it is fixed by itself so I am sure it was from their server.
