Hi All,

I have Trados 2011 and was wondering if someone could explain how I can possibly create a TM from a single word document (in English). My translation is from Spanish to English and the client has provided me with a word document written in English only that includes lots of terminology that will be useful in my English to Spanish translation.

Is it necessary to also have the Spanish (source) word document of the file that my client sent me in order to create this TM?

If anyone can help me out, I would sincerely appreciate it. I am new to Trados and having some trouble with these features.

Thanks,
Jillian

TM requires source and target Nov 11, 2012

Hi Jillian,

To create a TM you would need to have both the source and target text, so the short answer is you can't really create a TM just with the English file.

Thanks for the reply! Nov 11, 2012

Hi Nora,

Thanks so much for the reply...I really appreciate it!

Just for future reference, do you happen to know how to make the TM when you have both the Spanish and English documents?

Regards,
Jillian

Termbase Nov 11, 2012

I may be worthwhile to create or add to a Multiterm termbase from the terms in the "document written in English" and the file you are to translate from Spanish.

As for creating TMs when you have both source and target docs, I use LF Aligner http://sourceforge.net/projects/aligner/

and superalign http://sourceforge.net/projects/superalign/
