Hello All,

I'm just doing an extensive parts list for a machine in Trados Studio 2011 and am building up a termbase in Multiterm with words beginning with uppercase (German to English).

Problem is, I would then like to convert the English glossary entries to lowercase so they will easily crop up when I translate the main document (machine instruction manual).

Does anyone know an easy way to do this?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Steve K

Use Excel? Nov 28, 2012

Excel has the LOWER function that converts all letters to lowercase. Assuming the text you want to convert is in cell A1, you would enter =LOWER(A1) into an adjacent cell.

I don't know how practical it is for you to export from Multiterm to Excel then reimport back to Multiterm, but it is one solution.

Thanks Simon, I don't use Excel often and haven't used that function - I will look into it!

Best wishes, Steve

Clipmate by Thornsoft has a comprehensive case-changer Jan 8, 2013

I use Clipmate for this when I get the caps lock on by mistake:

http://www.thornsoft.com/

30-day trial, then purchase cost: USD 34.95

If you have extensive work to do on Multiterm records, then this would well repay the investment: I've been using this clipboard extender for well over two years.

I hope this helps.

With kind regards,

Adam Warren (IanDhu - 41189).

Or alternatively... Jan 8, 2013

... just make sure you don't check this option in Studio and then it won't matter:

Typing lower case "t":

Typing upper case "T":

So I can get either case irrespective of whether I add terms for each case into Multiterm.

Regards

Paul
