Hi,

I have started working on a document in Trados Studio 2011. Opened as a .doc file.

But when I go to save my work I get an error message: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process

Any information or ideas would be very much appreciated!!

It sounds... Feb 14, 2013

.... as though you have the document open in Word at the same time. If you close it then the message will go away.

If you haven't then check to see whether Word is still running in the background through your windows task manager. Then you can close the process and try again.

Regards

Paul

Trados bug... Feb 14, 2013

Hi,
and thanks for taking the time to reply.

After a while Trados simply crashed...!

When I reopened the document (after thinking all my work was lost), When I went to start translating again, every time I went to the next line, my work reappeared...

Just another Trados bug I believe....they are many....

No - that is called a feature. This is what TMs are made for.

The TM is a great feature indeed! The random bugging and shutting down not so much...I'm just glad all was not lost.

Workaround Apr 19, 2013

Hi all,

I have also encountered this problem and found the following workaround solution in some other forum thread:

Save the target using 'Save Target As…' in an empty folder (that is not the same as the folder where your sdlxliff files are located). Then, save your translation again by using 'Save'. Now, it should work.

In some cases, this error might occur again at a later point. If this is the case, try to save the target again in a newly created folder. Then, save it again.

Please note that in my case, the system creates temporary files with random names such as pylfkesh.uum or efxjzbho.st1 in the temp folder.

Best regards,
Peter

Adding my bit... Jan 12, 2014

I deleted the folder in the FILES tab and added it again. And voila! Ca marche!
