Urgent help needed! - Trados Studio 2009 Freezes???

Dear All,

Since Monday, I have a severe problem with my Trados Studio 2009 Freelance Plus. Last week, when I worked the last time with the program, it worked well, everything as usual. On Monday, when I tried to launch it, it started to load the various views, but then froze. I closed all other programs, documents etc. on my PC. I restarted it, I ran a virus scan, etc. I tried everything I could think of. But always the same result, day after day. The program just freezes during start up ("show application window"). All other programs and applications work without any problem.

I am really desperate, because I will receive a new job today or tomorrow (I already agreed to it), but have no chance to do it without my Trados.

Any ideas as to what can be the cause or what I could try are highly appreciated!

Delete 3 settings files Feb 28, 2013

Have you tried deleting the three XML files that sometimes cause problems?

Go here:
for Studio 2009:
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\9.1.0.0
or for Studio 2011:
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\10.0.0.0

and delete the following files:

- BaseSettings.xml
- plugincache.xml
- UserSettings.xml

Dear Emma,
Thanks for your hint. I tried that too, but to no avail. Finally, I went into a computer shop and - after more than an hour - was told that my machine was going to fail completely due to "old age"...:-(

So I have ordered a new one and everything will (hopefully) be fine as soon as I will have set it up!
