I'm new to Trados and can't seem to find an answer for this.

My source files are pdf manuals with drawings and the outcome documents a word file which is badly formatted. The client would rather have a txt file and format everything themselves.

Is there a way to import a pdf and then save it into a txt file?

Thanks in advance for any help.

the documents trados produces in word include strange formatting that brakes the whole thing when I try to do what you said.

... if you don;t have a better PDF Converter like Abbyy for example

1. Open the PDF in Studio and immediately save the target. This gives you the Word file
2. Open the Word file and remove all formatting
3. Now save as TXT or just translate the format free Word file
