Hello everybody

I am a new user of Trados 2011 and would like to know how it performs to you. Is it as slow as mine?

I am working on a big project. One document has about 9,200 words, for example:

-opening the document needs at least 5 minutes,

-saving a segment and opening next one needs 5 seconds

-It needs 15 minutes for saving!

Is THIS normal?

Thank you very much for your comments.

Oliver

... but what type of document is it and perhaps there are some ways to improve this for you? Also, where is the document being stored, and where are the TMs stored? This may impact the speed of access... and also if you have any background tasks backing up files for example then this can also slow down the performance when you are working. I have seen this before where the user had his TMs being backed up every time he changed something in there... so when he confirmed a segment and moved on... and this took place over a NAS drive.

So many things could be the cause of a problem like this but a little more information might help to track this down.

Regards

Paul

Another possibility... Mar 13, 2013

is if you are using Microsoft Security Essentials. I don't know if this still is the case after some updates that came out for Studio 2011, but just a few months ago and even after SP2 I experienced this problem and solved it by adding Studio 2011 to the excluded processes of Microsoft Security Essentials. Paul might know better if this is solved but it might be worth a try.

Dear Paul and Jonathan,

I changed the Security Essencials settings and the performance improved remarkably. Great!

I will check this you tell me, Paul. Where do I check the TM back up settings?

Thank you very much for your support,

Oliver
