Hi

I am almost completely new to Trados and am using Studio 2011.

I created a memory called Seals

Someone sent me a tmx file (is that a kind of memory?) and I added it in.

Having completed the translation I see that I have no memory of my own. Should I have created a separate memory for myself?

How can I now save the translation to a new memory (which Ii would call Seals 2)?

Sorry about by naivety - totally confused!

thanks for any help

Spencer

TMX Mar 20, 2013

TMX stands for Translation Memory Exchange Format, you need to import it into most CAT tools to be able to use it. In other words, you can CAT hopping, i.e use it in different CAT tools.

If you've confirmed your segments (Ctrl+Enter), your TM (Seals) should contain all of the segments you've translated as well as those from the tmx.

If you want to create your own, i.e. a TM with only the segments you've translated, create a new TM (Seals 2) under Translation Memory view or Project Settings TM. Once you've create your TM, import your *.sdlxliff file from the target folder into your TM.

Hope this is clear enough,

Bernard
