If your source file is *.doc or *.docx, I can advise to try doing a repair - and afterwards you can use pre-translate as Hazel previously suggested.
In order to repair your document: Open a blank Word document -> click on the Office button or File ( depending on your version of MS Office ) -> select Open -> browse for your file -> select Open and Repair -> try saving this file as "test" and try using this file in SDL Trados Studio.
