Hello everyone.
Yesterday I worked for three hours on an alignment between two texts with annoyingly different formatting, and had just finished everything when up came Uncle Bill's favourite message "WINALIGN.EXE is crashing etc. etc.)

Winalign nearly always crashes Sep 29, 2004

I use the program for aligning S-Tagger RTF files, some of which are several hundred pages long (from Framemaker). It seems like this is more than the program can handle. If I try to save every now and then, the program stalls and Windows XP tells me that the program is not responding, however, sometimes I can be lucky and the program wakes up after about 15 minutes or more. Thanks Terence.
Nice to know I\'m not alone! It always crashes on me too.
I think I\'m right in thinking that I cannot export data until I mark a file pair as finished.

I\'ve been doing a bit of RTFM, and the User Guide recommends saving the project into a WAL intermediate result file every now and then - presumably this survives a WinAlign crash. I shall take note.

Save the WinAlign project Sep 29, 2004

Hi Anthony,
You should save the alignment project. This will enable you to re-open the .pjt file.

HTH, Ralf
