Numbered sentence problem using Trados 2007 in Word 2010

I have a problem using SDL Suite 2007 in Word
2010 -

The text has some sentences numbered 1. 2.. 3., and so forth.

As soon as I get to the first numbered sentence/segment, the 1. changes to
2., and the number 3. appears between that and the next segment
which appears to be now numbered as 4.
As soon as I hit end/close, the segments disappear and I can't
continue. The added numbers remain.

Do you have any suggestions?

I have renamed and resaved the original file but that doesn't help.

saved to desktop under new name, Aug 6, 2013

then restarted the computer, then opened the Word file, and then opened the TM in Workbench. Seems to work now.
