Hello,

Since I have a new computer (Windows 8), I can no longer convert Excel files to XML in Multiterm Convert 2011/2014.

I know this is an MS Office problem, however I already have searched for a long time for answers on the MS pages and nothing works.

This problem really limits my use of Multiterm Convert, because I work a lot with termbases and get them often in Excel format, and also my use of Studio, as I cannot open Excel files in Studio as well.

Does anyone of you have tips for me how to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Still no solution Oct 26, 2013

Hello everybody,

I really wish someone would answer my post - SDL Support, please?

I have again looked for hours now for a solution:
-reinstall Office 2007: it changed nothing but now Word opens with message that a VB file is missing
-install vb5 & vb 6: it won't work still
-convert from xls to xml: Multiterm does no longer display error message but converts 0 items
-I can't find any tool to convert xls to OLIF XML

Microsoft has no longer available VB6.
Still they have some download links on their site, but they will not install correctly on Win8.

SDL, please find a solution for this. I can't use Multiterm Convert. Are there workarounds?

Thanks in advance.

If you can't open the excel files... Oct 27, 2013

... in Studio either then I'd be a little suspicious of the Excel files themselves. Can you open them in Excel? If you can maybe you can save them as a different king of Excel and see if that helps.

I'd save them with a new name as xlsx, xls and then try both.

Regards

Paul

Problems persist Oct 28, 2013

Hello Paul,

Thanks for your answer.
I have tried that many times and I can always open the xsl/xslx file normally in Excel.
I just tried opening the same Excel file in Studio 2014 and it opens normally.

Yesterday I also downloaded vbe6int.dll and copied it to the folder where Excel.exe is located.
However, Multiterm Convert still gives me the same error message: vbe6int.dll could not be found.

I have tried out all solutions I can find on MS technical forums.

Does SDL know about this problem or am I the only one?

Note: the problem started when I migrated all SDL programs to Windows 8 and it persists after I installed Multiterm 2014.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Akke,

This is where the dll normally resides or in a similar folder but even if you copy the dll into it, it needs to be registered for it to work, you need to run regsvr32 in a elevated DOS command (i.e., Run as Administrator), a message will clearly indicate whether it worked or not.

C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\VBA\VBA6\1033\VBE6INTL.DLL

HTH,

Bernard

Tried it but doesn't work Oct 29, 2013

Hello Bernard,

Thanks a lot for your message.

I copied VBE6INT.DLL to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VBA\VBA6\1033\VBE6INTL.DLL

and then as Administrator in command prompt I ran from that directory:

regsvr32 VBE6INTL.DLL

The error message is:
Module 'VBE6INTL.DLL' has been loaded, but the access point DllRegisterServer has not been found.
Ensure that 'VBE6INT.DLL' is a valid DLL or OCX file and try again.

Please note that VB6 is not installed on my machine. VB4 and VB5 are, however there is no way to install VB6 unless I go to torrents.

Hopefully you have an idea for me.

Thanks in advance,
Akke
