Trados 2011 is acting up. When I try to open files I have previously translated I get the below error message and then a Windows notification "SDL Trados has stopped working". For some reason files which are in the format .ttx.sdlxliff seem not to be affected, whereas .docx.sdlxliff are.

Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {90AB53E1-B984-4556-AF38-11C4547EE265} failed due to the following error: 8007007e

Is this connected to the latest update of 2011? I've never had this problem before, at least not to the extent that so many files are affected. Solutions/help gratefully accepted.

Anyone? Nov 19, 2013

I still haven't been able to solve this. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Three weeks and counting. Someone from SDL could at least have the decency to tell me to feck off...Is this what happens when companies gain too big a share of the market?

SDL Support Nov 27, 2013

Hello Anders,

This is not an official SDL Support channel so nobody monitors this forum on a permanent basis and occasionally things may slip unnoticed. Apologies for that.

This error sounds like one we used to see for users of 2009 and 2007 where the problem was resolved by reregistering 2007... but this shouldn't really happen for 2011. I do have a small tool that was designed for 2011 and you're welcome to try this, but I think your best port of call is to raise a support ticket through the solution finder.

Go to the Knowledgebase;

http://kb.sdl.com

Then go to the tab called Solution Finder and now go here;

Download & Installation Problems
- I use MultiTerm or SDL Trados Studio 2011 (or similar...)
-- The installation went fine but now I get a message....
--- The problem occurs in SDL Trados Studio 2011 (or similar)
---- None of the articles resolved my problem

Follow the route for your problem and if there is no answer by the time you get to the end you'll be presented with a form to contact support. Complete all the fields in the form making sure your email address is entered correctly or nobody will be able to get back in touch with you.

I hope this helps.

Paul
